I originally did the Google Search that netted the top result of French Canvas when I searched "Wooden Stretcher Strips" three years ago. I want online after a very frustrating two years of trying to get
local art stores to keep any of the sizes I was using in stock.
French Canvas was my exclusive provider for two years. I learned of an ultra low-profile bar available from a west coast competitor and switched suppliers. Rob at French Canvas continued to offer an exclusive (in the ENTIRE WORLD) size of standard width bar and so I kept ordering those while TRYING to get the competitor to CONSISTENTLY STOCK the sizes that are the hallmarks of my brand. After a year of incomplete and incorrect orders and backorders (one of which has lasted nearly a year) I was "forced" to order from French Canvas and realized that between the AMAZING prices, volume discounts and free shipping there is simply NO COMPARISON to French Canvas.

Seriously... I tried Stretcher Bar Warehouse and in a year, half of my orders we either wrong or incomplete. I made one order to Art98 and it TOOK FOREVER and was incomplete. I got "wholesale" quotes from Jack Richeson, Masterpiece, Duro-Art and a couple others and none are better. Hopefully both our businesses can stand the tests of time!!!

Best,

Dan Fleming

Thanks Again,

Dear French Canvas

I just wanted to let you know that the custom canvases that I recently ordered were just great. Wonderful quality and affordably priced...I could not be happier with your company. I also wanted to let you know where I found out about your company. I asked Dick Blick Art Supplies if they did custom pre-stretched sizes and their customer service person gave me your name. It is difficult to have to search for the right size canvas....or worse to have to let size of canvas regulate your creative vision. I have told many folks in the arts here in Lancaster about your service...so I hope you will hear from some new customers soon.

I have been using the French Canvas Gotrick Gallery and Pre-Stretched Heavy Duty canvas for several months. They are of excellent quality and Rob has been very easy to work with. French Canvas is generous in their support of artists, and I recommend them to any artist who paints on canvas. Their response to requests is immediate and their shipping is reliable.

French Canvas is far superior to any comparable product on the market.  The frames are easy to assemble and more importantly strong.  Even more importantly is the surface of the canvas and linen.  I particularly like the primed linen which requires no sanding or other coating to attain a perfectly smooth surface.

I'm excited to find a brand of canvas which is truly quality oriented. I was sold once I saw and handled one, before I knew the cost. When I learned that they were even less than the discount art supply store, I began to spread the word. Great product !

I have been a professional artist for 30 years now, and for most of that time I built, stretched, and prepared my own canvases. French Canvas has prepared canvases far superior to any others that I have ever seen. Beefy frames, taut stretching, carefully folded corners - I can't make them any better than these.

I found French Canvas when I had a need for an unusual size canvas. I discovered that French Canvas is not only a quality product, but their Customer Support is the best in the business. I would recommend French Canvas to any artist looking for quality products and customer service.

French Canvas surpasses all other suppliers in product quality, customer service and price.  Their heavy duty stretchers are lightweight and strong, never warped and with well tooled ends that join seamlessly and firmly.  After years of battling with stretchers that warp, do not join smoothly or develop cracks due to improver drying, i'm delighted to no longer worry and just place my order and have it invariably be flawlessly filled.  French Canvas has greatly simplified my canvas preparation routine and i look forward to many more large paintings that use their products as their foundation.

I have been a customer of French Canvas for a few years now.  I use the Pre-Strecthed Heavy Duty Canvases, which they are of excellent quality and price.  The customer service is outstanding, Rob is a very professional person, his support makes me feel like their number one customer and to me it is like being part of that great big family.  I recommend them to any artist who paints on canvas.  Thank you for your pacience and all of your help always!

I have been a professional painter for twelve years now and have tried every kind of surface out there.  I started using French Canvas extra heavy duty stretcher bars several years ago and more recently the extra heavy duty pre-stretched primed cotton canvases.  Not only is the customer service unparalleled, the quality of the products are far superior to anything else I've found.  The stretcher bars do not warp, the canvas is beautifully primed and ready to go out of the box.  Rob has been wonderful to work with and his prices are unbeatable.  Since taking the leap to making art full-time, I no longer have time to stretch my own canvases.  Knowing that I can place an order with French Canvas and have large, odd sized, professional quality canvases delivered to my home in rural Vermont within a week, not only gives me more time to paint, it gives me great peace of mind.

For a couple of weeks, I had been looking around for a custom-sized canvas with such odd dimensions (18"x72"). Every company that I spoke to or looked up were either ridiculously expensive or very short and curt. Right when I was about to give up and tell my customer that I will have to paint him something on a canvas with more traditional dimensions, I stumbled upon FrenchCanvas.com. Not only is their website easy to use and understand, but the canvas arrived to my doorstep way sooner than I had anticipated! When I had questions and special request, I received prompt attention and care. Most importantly... my oddly-sized canvas quality was superb! It is built perfectly and continues to hold up strong. Thank you again for everything. I continue to promote this company to the art community in Southern California!

I want to thank you for the quality of your canvases. I've attached a photo of my first four feet by eight feet painting with me beside it. I'm currently about half way through my second of the same size.
Thanks for making this possible, Will York

I just wanted to let you know that I received my canvas today. It's absolutely perfect! I can't wait to get started on it. I'm definitely only going to French Canvas for my large scale pieces (which has recently has been the majority of my work). Thank you so much!
